Description
A research position is available within the Marine Civil Engineering group, in the Arctic Technology field. The position is within the research project “Marine Icing”, conducted by DNV, NTNU and STATOIL. The researcher will collaborated with research groups at NTNU and DNV.
In this position you will take part in the development of physical model and simulation tool for the calculation of ice accretion on the vessel. Work includes implementation of the physical model of thin sea water film flow and its solidification into ANSYS FLUENT. Realisation will be done in C language.
Qualifications
You should possess a Master of Science degree in Applied Math/Computer Science/Physics. Professional qualifications include:
• Good knowledge of physics
• Basics of finite volume numeric calculations and fluid dynamics
• Minimum of two years of working experience in calculation programming (in C/C++ preferable). Recent college/university graduates without direct working experience will also be considered.
• Excellent communication skills in English language
• Ability to collaborate in a team environment as well as work independently
Preferable additional qualifications include:
• Writing macros in C language
• CFD Modelling (experience in ANSYS FLUENT, UDF programming skills)
• Experience with Matlab or Python

Salary, employment conditions:
Research fellows are remunerated in code 1017, grade 48 on the Norwegian State salary scale, gross NOK 391 100 per year (before tax). There will be a 2 % deduction to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund from gross salary. The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants.
The fellowship is awarded for 1 year.
