PhD position in Mathematical StatisticsApplications are invited for a PhD position in Mathematical Statistics at the department of Mathematics of the VU University Amsterdam. The intended area of research is Bayesian nonparametrics, keywords: nonparametric Bayesian inference, oracle posterior rates, lower bounds for posterior rates, confidence of credible sets, Bayesian two-stage optimization procedures, compressed sensing by Bayesian approach. Other topics are possible.
Candidates must have a master degree in mathematics or theoretical physics. A strong background (and interest) in mathematical statistics is essential.
This is a 4-year position, available with immediate effect. The gross salary is in the range between € 2062 and € 2638 gross per month. The salary is supplemented with a holiday bonus of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8,3% per year. Conditions are based on the Collective Employment Agreement of the Dutch Universities.
